3 More Things To Do When You Get Engaged
Last time, we explored three things that you’ll need to do once you have accepted your sweetheart’s proposal. We talked about setting the date of your wedding, creating a budget, and putting together your guest list. Of course, there are many other “to do” items that lead up to the big day. In this article, you’ll learn about setting your time line, choosing your bridesmaids, and starting the hunt for the perfect wedding dress.
#1 – Set Your Engagement Time Line
Creating a reasonable timetable may end up being one of the most difficult – and frustrating – tasks. An engagement will normally last between six and eighteen months, so you’ll have plenty of room to maneuver. However, a lot of popular wedding venues often book ceremonies and receptions several months in advance. Also, if you have a preferred date or season during which you want to get married, you’ll need to plan around it. For example, getting engaged in March might make a summertime wedding hard to manage. But, can you wait until the following year before tying the knot?
#2 – Select Your Bridesmaids
The moment your friends and family learn about your engagement, they’ll want to know who you’re planning to have in your party. It’s important to note that the sooner you select your bridesmaids, the sooner you can get them involved with the planning. But, there are a few potential snags along the way.
First, even if you don’t get along with your sister, consider including her in your party. Not only will that help smooth your relationship with her, but it can also satisfy the rest of your family. Second, limit the number of bridesmaids. Having a dozen people in your party may seem like a great idea at first, but can make the decision-making process slow and tedious.
#3 – Start Searching For Your Dress
Looking for the perfect wedding dress may be the most exciting task on your “to do” list. But, start hunting early. It begins with looking through magazines and searching for styles online. Also, consider the time of year you’re planning to get married. If you’re going to be standing in hot, humid conditions, linen or another light fabric may be appropriate.
The Big Day Approaches
Planning your wedding and the reception will be an exciting time. You’ll be working closely with your best friends and family, so you’re bound to enjoy yourself. The key to remember is that once the date is set and the venue is reserved, keeping on track during the beginning can help reduce your stress down the road. When your big day finally arrives, you’ll be able to relax and have the time of your life.
